Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur could sign Valencia’s Jesus Vazquez on a bargain deal
Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly interested in Valencia left-back Jesus Vazquez as they look to bolster their defender.
Italian outlet Tuttosport (h/t the Express) recently claimed that the youngster could be available for just 3.5million Pounds. That is a huge drop from the 35million Pound-release clause that is supposedly inserted into his contract at the Mestalla.
This is an odd one. Spurs are not short of players on the left flank of their defence, with Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon currently vying for starts in that position.
Sergio Reguilon, meanwhile, is on loan at Atletico de Madrid for the season while Ben Davies, who plays out-of-position at centre-back under manager Antonio Conte, is another option. That is without considering the money we spent on Destiny Udogie.
Spurs went big on signing the Italian left-back from Udinese Calcio this summer and agreed on a deal in the region of 15million Pounds without add-ons. He turned 20 last month and is currently playing with Udinese on a season-long loan.
Hence, a move for Vazquez doesn’t make sense at all for us right now. It would be a wise transfer to conclude if we can sign him for a reduced fee, as mentioned above.
But even then, the management must have a plan in place for him – either sell him for profit later on or reduce our options in the left-back area to make space for him.
