Sergio Aguero full of praise for Tottenham Hotspur target Alexis Mac Allister

Brighton and Hove Albion playmaker Alexis Mac Allister is being pursued by Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan, as per SussexLive.

The links come after Mac Allister’s superb display for Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he became a World Cup winner at the age of 23. He started in the final and assisted Angel di Maria’s goal, which made the scoreline 2-0.

The game finished 3-3 and La Albiceleste eventually won on penalties. Following the triumph in Qatar, Mac Allister’s popularity has shot up incredibly. The four teams named above are European superclubs.

They also have linkages to the current Argentina national team set-up. Spurs have Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso – two of manager Lionel Scaloni’s most trusted players in the national set-up when fit.

Juventus have Angel di Maria and Leandro Paredes, Atletico Madrid possess Angel Correa and Argentine great Diego Simeone as their manager, while Inter have the electric Lautaro Martinez.

Hence, a move to these clubs would ensure that he has a familiar face in the dressing room. His suitors have now been given a ringing endorsement of the player by none other than Argentine footballing legend Sergio Aguero, who recently gave his views on Mac Allister:

“Mac Allister is another who had an incredible World Cup and it does not surprise me to read that he is already coveted by other teams. He is young and intelligent.”

“With great ball handling and he knows how to find spaces very well in a football where there are fewer and fewer spaces. He will continue to grow with the competition. He already showed with that what he is made of.”

The former Manchester City and Barcelona striker said that he isn’t surprised that the 23-year-old midfielder is garnering so much interest, which makes sense. He isn’t playing for a European ‘giant’ where his potential long-term personal ambitions would be met.

He is also capable of playing in central midfield, as a left midfielder, and even as a playmaker. The competition for him would be intense given his performance in Qatar, which would make him a wanted man – but it remains to be seen if Brighton will make it easy for any team to sign their coveted asset so soon after his glory in the Middle East.
