Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur want Pedro Porro despite Conte’s liking for Achraf Hakimi

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is a fan of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi, but the Lilywhites are focused on signing Pedro Porro from Sporting CP.

This is according to Jack-Pitt Brooke of the Athletic (Subscription Required), who claims that it is unlikely for Hakimi to join Spurs. That makes sense, given the Morocco international’s form.

Les Parisiens spent a massive 67million Euros to sign him last year from Inter Milan, after Hakimi had a Scudetto-winning campaign with manager Antonio Conte at the helm. Having invested so much in him, there is no way PSG let him leave for cheap.

Moreover, there is hardly any reason for them to sell him. He is still just 24 years old and can only get better from here, with three and a half years still left on his contract at the Parc des Princes (Transfermarkt).

What should Spurs do now?

It simply doesn’t make sense that PSG would want to part ways with the former Real Madrid player unless something drastic happens. Porro of Sporting CP would be a more gettable option by comparison.

But Brooke has more bad news on that front. He claims that the Portuguese outlet don’t have any need of selling him and there is nothing to indicate that they will make the 23-year-old affordable for potential suitors.

The former Manchester City starlet’s future is still very much in the hands of Sporting, given his contract expires in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). Spurs have seemingly chased a quality attacking right-wing-back for a while.

It’s about time that we go out and get a player that makes that position his own for the next five to seven years. Porro is a good player to pursue, especially if the Spaniard has a desire to return to England and show that he can make it in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

Hakimi and other such unattainable targets shouldn’t distract us. We must focus on one target and get that deal over the line – if not, there would always be players keen to represent a massive club like Tottenham – we will just have to find the right one.
