Tottenham Hotspur will have ‘more conversations’ with Sporting CP for Pedro Porro

According to the Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur will have ‘more conversations’ with Portuguese club Sporting CP to try and strike a deal for talented Spanish right-back Pedro Porro.

It is understood that initial conversations have taken place between the two parties driven by intermediaries and more are set to follow as the Lilywhites look to reach an agreement to sign the talented Porro.

As things stand, it has emerged that Spurs will have to pay the Spaniard’s release clause of  €45m if they want to sign Porro in January. Tottenham will no doubt look to bring this price down in the aforementioned ‘conversations’.

Sporting CP could still choose to stick to their initial demand and make Tottenham pay the release clause which is not ideal for the club. However, if Conte & co. want Porro so badly, they could go ahead and do it.

The former Manchester City youth player has impressed during his time in Portugal. He has shown his quality in the right-back position and it comes as no surprise that he is linked with a move to one of the top clubs.

Tottenham are not the only club interested in Porro. There is interest from Spain with the big fishes in La Liga like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all looking to sign the 23-year-old (Jornal de Noticias via London World (h/t Football. London)

The right-back/ right wing-back is an area that has really troubled Tottenham and Conte this season despite the presence of three players. Emerson Royal was given an extended run there failing to convince with his performances.

Matt Doherty is extremely inconsistent. He has games where he looks world-class followed by games where he looks like he is playing in that position for the first time. Djed Spence doesn’t look ready for the first team or at least, that’s what Conte seems to think.

There would naturally be question marks over Porro’s ability to adapt to the Premier League. However, the talent that the Spaniard possesses is obvious and only time will tell if he can be the solution to our problems in that position.
