Ben Jacobs confirms Chelsea might hijack move for Tottenham target Pedro Porro

Speaking to Last Word on Spurs via Youtube, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that Chelsea have entered the race for Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Pedro Porro.

Jacobs has claimed that the Blues have a real chance of hijacking Tottenham’s pursuit of the talented Spanish right-back as they might be more willing to pay the player’s release clause than Spurs are.

The North London club have been linked with the player playing in Liga NOS for quite some time now. Antonio Conte has apparently identified him as the long-term solution to their right-back issues.

Speaking on the YouTube channel, Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea are very much in the race for the talented Spaniard.

“The other thing to watch, we’ll hear this a lot, and it’s to be taken with a pinch of salt. A hijack from Chelsea is very possible.

“Where Tottenham are perhaps 50/50 on whether it’s worth paying the release clause, Chelsea may be a bit more bullish because they’re looking for big movement.”

Chelsea have shown quite a lot in the transfer window recently that they do not mind paying big money to get the players that they want. If they flex their financial might with regards to Porro, Tottenham are bound to miss out.

Tottenham desperately need reinforcements in the right-back/right-wing-back position. Despite having as many as three players for the same position, none of them have managed to convince.

Emerson Royal has been given an extended rope in that position but the Brazilian has struggled. Matt Doherty is frustratingly inconsistent and Djed Spence looks more a player for the future than the present.

All these points to Pedro Porro being a necessity for Conte & co. Let’s hope we can beat Chelsea and the others to this signing.
