Tottenham Hotspur devise strategy to sign Pedro Porro from Sporting CP

Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly planning to use a player of their own to slash Pedro Porro’s price tag, as per the Mirror (h/t the Express).

Spurs are open to letting a player join them on loan and offer them 27million Pounds in cash to sign the 23-year-old full-back. Porro has been superb since signing for Sporting from Manchester City last summer.

He has become a constant threat for the Liga NOS side down their right-hand side of the pitch and has clearly left an impression on Spurs. He also faced us twice this season in the UEFA Champions League.

Emerson Royal has spent big money to better himself at Tottenham Hotspur.
Emerson Royal has been average since his Barcelona transfer.

So, it is clear that the club admire him if they are keen on bringing him back to England so soon after his transfer from the Etihad. The price tag is apparently troubling them.

A wise idea from Spurs

Letting a player join them on loan is a smart idea. It isn’t clear who Spurs will deem expendable, but by common sense, Spurs fans would want that to be either of our three wing-backs on the right side.

Matt Doherty, Emerson Royal, and Djed Spence can all fall down one place in the pecking order if Porro joins us. Hence, letting one of them leave will be the ideal move.

However, it remains to be seen if the Portuguese side will entertain such an offer. It is, after all, midway in the season and manager Ruben Amorim could want his best players to stay on board for at least until the end of the season.

They are in the race to secure the second qualification spot for the UEFA Champions League and currently trail second-placed Braga with a game in hand. They can use all the help they can get to make the UCL again next term.

The money involved in the competition makes it a lucrative competition for any team in European football. However, Spurs would be wise to pitch in a now-or-never offer this month, wave some cash, offer a player, and then wait for a response, because we can use the Spaniard’s services as soon as possible.
