Jose Mourinho gives his opinion on Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo

Speaking in an interview as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Jose Mourinho has given his opinion on Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo‘s situation at Roma currently.

The former Tottenham boss confirmed that Zaniolo had asked to leave the club. He also went on to reveal that none of the offers they have received so far have been satisfactory enough to let the Italian leave.

Mourinho went on to claim that he thinks Zaniolo will end up staying come the end of this transfer window. Tottenham are one of the clubs heavily linked with a move for the talented Italian forward.

The Lilywhites have made a loan offer to the Italian club with an option to buy but it looks like Roma want a permanent transfer. With just over a week left in the transfer window, there is not much time left.

Tottenham’s interest in Zaniolo has been concrete for quite some time now. Antonio Conte & co. have been interested in signing the 23-year-old since back in the summer and they now have a glorious opportunity to do so.

Speaking about Zaniolo’s situation, here is what former Tottenham boss Mourinho had to say on what he thinks will happen

“Nicoló Zaniolo has asked to leave the club — but it’s not sure that it’s gonna happen. Current proposals are not enough. We only need a good proposal to let Zaniolo leave, and we’ve not received it. My feeling is that at the end, he will stay”

A very talented forward in his own right, Zaniolo has the game to thrive in a Conte team. He has had a cruel twist with injuries but that has not deterred him and he has continued to impress after coming back.

Zaniolo has proven to be a key player under Jose Mourinho for the majority of last season and although that has reduced a bit due to his contract situation, he has featured a lot this time around as well.

A versatile player who can play as an inside forward or an attacking midfielder, Zaniolo will offer Conte the tactical flexibility to switch between formations in game and be a creative spark in the team.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham manage to come up with an offer that convinces Roma. If not, the talented attacker might end up staying in the Italian capital.
