Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane responds to question about Antonio Conte’s Spurs future
Harry Kane and Antonio Conte’s futures at Tottenham Hotspur are the talk of the town at the moment.
The England international is in the final 18 months of the six-year contract that he signed with Spurs in the summer of 2018. Conte, meanwhile, is set to become a free agent in the summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
These two men are crucial to our new project. We are yet to win a trophy since the League Cup in 2008 and fans would feel that we have the best chance of breaking that run with Conte and Kane both in the squad.
The Italian tactician has a knack for winning domestic trophies and showed instant results during his time at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan. Kane’s legacy, meanwhile, is arguably unparalleled at Spurs.
Kane and Conte are crucial to Tottenham project
His superb goal against Fulham in our latest 1-0 league win tied him with Jimmy Greaves as our club’s highest-ever goal-scorer with 266 strikes to his name. At a time like this, whenever Kane faces the media, a question about his Spurs future is sure to follow.
Recently, Kane was asked if Conte confirming a new contract at Tottenham will aid him in his decision to stay or leave Spurs. The 29-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United, replied (h/t Football.London):
“I’m not going to talk about the manager’s future. That’s down to him. I’m sure he’ll have conversations with the club and assess where we are as a team.
“He’s had a lot going on, on and off the pitch, so he probably needs time to assess it all. From my point of view, I really enjoy working with him and it would be fantastic if he did stay.”
If Kane does feel that Conte is crucial to Spurs having a bright future, then that is what our board should be after. The Englishman’s importance to the team cannot be highlighted enough.

The dream scenario will be to extend both of their contracts and then make big signings to add to our depth across the pitch. But that is, of course, easier done than said. Conte apparently has his family in Italy, which is why he could be interested in a return to his homeland this summer.
