Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur ‘frustrated’ with Sporting CP in Pedro Porro deal
Tottenham Hotspur are growing ‘increasingly frustrated’ with Sporting CP as they look to sign Pedro Porro before deadline day in January, as per Sky Sports.
Spurs have been looking to sign the Spanish right-back for the majority of this window. But it seems that the saga will continue to drag on.
Tottenham are apparently willing to meet the player’s 39million Pound release clause. However, the Primeira Liga giants want the entire payment upfront.
Spurs, on the other hand, don’t want that. They want to complete potential payments for the one-cap Spain international in instalments.
What should Spurs do in this situation?
This is supposedly causing a hold-up. Perhaps one can understand where Sporting CP are coming from, as they are not entitled to whatever they receive for Porro.
Manchester City will pocket 11.7million Pounds if Spurs meet the Sporting right-back’s release clause. This is due to a sell-on clause the Cityzens inserted in the player’s contract after agreeing to sell him permanently last summer.
Spurs shouldn’t haggle if they really want the player but it’s not a bad practice to drive a hard bargain. There are still a few days left.

Hopefully, one side budges. Porro is on a path to becoming a great player and if not now, then his performances could see other clubs come to the table for him. Hence, while Tottenham are smart to bargain as much as possible, they must not walk away from this deal.
