Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo was one of the most highly-rated young talents in Italian football but things have gone downhill in recent times. The player was pushing for a move away from the Italian capital to Tottenham in January.
Spurs were one of the clubs interested in signing the young forward. However, they were unable to finalize a move which has put Nicolo Zaniolo in a spot of bother as he finds himself stuck at Roma.
According to Repubblica via Calciomercato, Zaniolo’s name and pictures have been removed from the dressing room at the club’s training ground, indicating that he is no longer wanted at the club. This is a significant development and could lead to the player leaving the club in the near future.
It is possible that Zaniolo was upset at the failed transfer, and this may have had a negative impact on his relationship with the club. The fans don’t seem to want him anymore and it is set to be a tough few months for the player.
Despite the setback, Zaniolo remains one of the most exciting young prospects in Italian football. One indifferent season does not take that fact away from him and he continues to have a huge future ahead of him.
For Zaniolo’s sake though, he will have to put the differences with the club behind him and try to work his way back into former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho’s plans. It will not be easy but it can be done.
Tottenham’s interest in Nicolo Zaniolo is not surprising given the player’s potential. The London club has a history of investing in young talent, and Zaniolo would have been a valuable addition to the team.
We still don’t know if Tottenham will go back for the Italian in the summer. They might do so considering how much Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici rate him but only time will tell if that is the case.
