Cristian Stellini praises Tottenham Hotspur star Emerson Royal for his performance against Manchester City
Speaking to Football. London, Tottenham’s assistant manager, Cristian Stellini, has praised defender Emerson Royal for his performance against Manchester City in their 1-0 win last night.
Stellini was full of praise for the way Royal defended against City’s star player Jack Grealish, calling him one of the most important players in the game. He emphasized that Emerson showed in the game against Manchester City that he is a good player.
In October, Emerson was sent off during a match against Arsenal, which resulted in him losing his place in the starting lineup. Stellini believes that the red card was not a fair decision and it created a problem for Emerson, causing him to need time to find his place again.

Since then, the Brazilian’s time at N17 has been very mixed at best. He has lost his place to Matt Doherty but the Irishman is no longer at the club. Instead, the club have signed a huge player in Pedro Porro.
The Spaniard was widely expected and still is set to be the first-choice right-back for Tottenham. However, the former Barcelona defender showed last night that he can be an important player too.
Tottenham will be exceptionally happy that Emerson Royal has stepped up at a time when they have signed Porro. Competition for places will help bring the best out of both players and this helps benefit the club.
Stellini, who was on the touchline in the absence of Antonio Conte, could not have been happier with Emerson.
“Yes Emerson was one of the most important. In the end of the game he had two or three situations and he showed his desire like all the team.
“It is important to have different players in the same position with different skills and you use the player when you need. Emerson showed today he is a good player”
Emerson Royal’s performance against Manchester City was a reminder of his potential and his ability to play at a high level. Stellini’s praise shows that the coaching staff has faith in the young defender.
