Spurs News: Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu could be tempted by Tottenham Hotspur
A move to Tottenham Hotspur could ‘tempt’ Inter Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu, as per Italian outlet CalciomercatoWeb.
The Serie A giants are seemingly at risk of another ‘Perisic case’ with the Turkey international. Ivan Perisic left Inter Milan for nothing last summer.
He ran down his contract at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and joined former Inter manager Antonio Conte at Tottenham on a free transfer. This could apparently be repeated with Calhanoglu.
His contract expires in the summer of 2024 and while talks regarding a renewal have started, the former Bayer Leverkusen star is yet to pen fresh terms. Moreover, Spurs are also said to be seriously making a push to renew Conte’s terms.
Calhanoglu to Spurs?
The Italian manager is out of contract at N17 this summer but Spurs will try their level best to tie him down to a new deal. Once that is done, a push can be made to sign Calhanoglu.
One can imagine it would be for a reasonable fee given he will enter the final year of his contract next season – granted he doesn’t renew his current deal. It remains to be seen if and when Spurs decide to pursue the Turkish international.
The 28-year-old is a set-piece specialist and a world-class passer. Those who have seen him play would know this about him. Apart from that, he doesn’t offer the most when defending but given his role at Inter and Turkey, he isn’t really the one entrusted with defensive responsibilities.
