Tottenham Hotspur face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for Portuguese goalie Diogo Costa

Tottenham Hotspur is set to face strong competition from Chelsea and Manchester United in their pursuit of FC Porto’s talented goalkeeper, Diogo Costa, according to 90min (h/t Football. London)

The Portuguese goalkeeper has been catching the eye of fans and coaches alike with his impressive form and excellent shot-stopping ability. As a result, he has caught the attention of several top European clubs.

With Spurs looking for a new goalkeeper for the next season following the poor form of club captain Hugo Lloris, they have identified Costa as an ideal candidate to replace the Frenchman.

Lloris has struggled for form this season, and his mistakes have cost the team on several occasions. As a result, the club is in desperate need of a new goalkeeper, and Costa’s impressive form and reputation make him an attractive target.

However, the club is set to face stiff competition from Chelsea and Manchester United, who are also in the market for a new goalkeeper. The Blues could do with a keeper better than Kepa Arrizabalaga whilst David de Gea’s future with the Red Devils is also under the scanner.

It is understandable that Costa is the name that Tottenham are looking at to replace Lloris. The Portuguese goalie is in a really good moment and has shown his quality for both club and country.

Lloris, as good a servant as he has been for the club, is nowhere close to the levels required. Age is finally catching up with him and he is increasingly looking every bit of his 36 years when he plays on the pitch.

Tottenham will have quite a few goalkeeping options on their shortlist when it comes to a new goalie. However, if they are able to sign Costa, it does not get much better than the 23-year-old shot-stopper.

It will not be easy considering the competition that is prevalent but we might have the edge if we manage to qualify for the Champions League ahead of the other two clubs.
