Atletico Madrid to rival Tottenham Hotspur for Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu
According to CalcioMercato, Atletico Madrid are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit of talented Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
Hakan Calhanoglu has been a standout player for Inter Milan this season, even more so considering the absence of Marcelo Brozovic. The Turkish international has adapted to his new role in front of the defence and has contributed to the team’s success with his excellent dribbling skills and made three goals and six assists.
One of the clubs reportedly interested in the midfielder is Atletico Madrid. The Spanish club is going through a difficult season and is in need of a revamp. With Thomas Lemar potentially on his way out, Atletico Madrid could look to bring in Calhanoglu as a replacement.
For Tottenham, Calhanoglu’s performance is a source of concern. The Premier League club has been linked with the midfielder in the past, but now they will face competition from Atletico Madrid.
That Tottenham need a creative presence in midfield is a well-known fact. They have been linked with various names for players who can come in and play that role but none of it has materialised so far.
Calhanoglu’s versatility, creativity and ability to contribute to the attack would make him a valuable addition to the team. He would be a player that Antonio Conte might love using and would be a great choice.
Tottenham will need to act quickly if they want to secure Calhanoglu’s signature. The Turkish international is in high demand and it will not be easy to convince Inter Milan to sell him.
