Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly interested in signing Yassine Bounou, the highly-rated goalkeeper from Sevilla, according to AS.

Bounou was nominated for FIFA’s The Best award, along with Courtois and Martinez, and has been a standout performer in La Liga. Tottenham’s interest in the Moroccan shot-stopper comes after Hugo Lloris suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for about two months.

Even otherwise, the club might have been looking to replace their long-term captain. Lloris is not going through the best of moments right now and his time at the highest level seems to be over.

Sevilla, however, is not willing to let go of Bounou easily. They know that the 32-year-old is their most valuable player and have put a high release clause on his contract, which can reach up to 50 million euros.

Tottenham, who have been struggling to find a consistent replacement for Lloris, is expected to face competition from other English clubs in the summer but they will know that this is too good an opportunity to pass

Bounou has been a key player for Sevilla this season, helping them to compete in La Liga. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and he has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

If Sevilla fails to qualify for European football next season, they may have to consider selling Bounou to alleviate some of their financial losses. However, with his current form and reputation, they will be looking for a high fee to let him go.

Tottenham will need to weigh the cost of signing Bounou against the potential benefits he could bring to the club, including strengthening their defence and providing reliable goalkeeping.
