Cristian Stellini answers when Antonio Conte can be back for Tottenham Hotspur after West Ham United win

Tottenham Hotspur’s assistant manager Cristian Stellini has been stepping in for manager Antonio Conte ever since his gall bladder surgery.

The former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss is still recovering and Stellini was on the sidelines for Spurs’ 2-0 win against West Ham United. This was a much-needed win after back-to-back losses against Leicester City and AC Milan.

Fans would have certainly been missing Conte’s presence on the touchline. Now, Stellini has answered when he could be back on the touchline.

Speaking after the game against the Hammers at N17, Stellini said (h/t Football.London):

“No, I am not expecting Antonio is back for Chelsea but I expect Antonio will be back the week after Chelsea. For Milan or Wolverhampton.

“We have also the game in the FA Cup so maybe not Chelsea but we don’t know, because if Antonio feels well and he can live some stress without some pain or feel something strange, Antonio will be back.

So, it seems that Conte will not be back for the league game against Chelsea on 26 February. We can also rule him out for the FA Cup fifth-round game against Sheffield United after that.

This is a game which we shouldn’t have trouble winning regardless of Conte’s absence. Hopefully, he is back in the dugout when we take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on 4 March.

If not that, then surely he should be back for the second-leg UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clash against AC Milan in north London. We are trailing 1-0 and can certainly use the Italian manager’s expertise in Serie A football in the second leg.

Of course, his recovery is more important than anything else. So, let’s hope that he is completely fit and fine by the time we face I Rossoneri and doesn’t risk or rush anything.
