Borussia Dortmund exit the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Elye Wahi
Borussia Dortmund are no longer in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur transfer target and Montpellier Herault striker Elye Wahi, as per BILD journalist Christian Falk.
Writing in his exclusive column on CaughtOffside, the German journo wrote:
“Dortmund are out of the race for Elye Wahi, so the chances for the Premier League clubs are a little bit bigger. Dortmund always has a good argument up their sleeve of offering playing time and being good for development, so this argument is waved away.
“The English clubs can get in with money. I think we need to keep a close eye on the player, as he seems a very interesting option. Perhaps he’s too interesting already now for Bundesliga clubs interested in buying him.”
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, it is believed that the player has changed agents amidst interest from Premier League clubs Spurs and Arsenal. Wahi has been decent this season.
Wahi to Spurs?
He has netted eight goals and provided two assists in 21 Ligue 1 games for Montpellier. Given his team are 14th in the league table, these are impressive numbers.
No wonder Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in the 20-year-old given his maturity and ability. Of course, the France U21 international isn’t a finished product.
But he can become Harry Kane or even Son Heung-min’s understudy here at Spurs, given his versatility in the frontline. Dortmund being removed from the race is nothing but good news for us.

They are a team that are known for giving a stage to young talent and could have offered him a better chance at playing time than us or even the Gunners. But that doesn’t mean we can rest, especially with Mikel Arteta’s side lurking – a team also famous for its tendency to hand opportunities to youngsters.
