Tottenham want Gianluca Mancini from AS Roma
According to CalcioMercato.com, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AS Roma defender Gianluca Mancini in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Italian centre-back has impressed many this season, including ex-Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, who has praised Mancini for his improved behaviour and attitude on the pitch and his gameplay.
Tottenham have struggled defensively this season, conceding more goals than any other team in the top half of the Premier League table. A reliable and consistent defender like Mancini could be just what Tottenham need to shore up their backline and start picking up clean sheets.

However, the likelihood of Mancini actually joining Tottenham seems slim. Mancini has recently renewed his contract with Roma and is now the team’s vice-captain, a sign that he is highly valued by the Italian club.
Moreover, Mancini’s contract runs until 2027, which means that Roma are in a strong position to negotiate any potential transfer fee. They are not going to make life easy for Tottenham or any other club interested in the player.
Tottenham already have some talented young defenders in their squad, such as Japhet Tanganga who could benefit from more game time and experience but it does not look like Antonio Conte will give him much game time.
Tottenham’s current defensive struggles are not solely down to individual mistakes or lack of talent but also stem from the team’s overall quality in that area which means they could do with reinforcements.
Cristian Romero is the only genuine world-class talent in the squad. Signing someone like Mancini who can partner the Argentinian for years to come could be the dream, albeit an unrealistic one.
