Wojciech Szczesny rejects Tottenham approach due to Arsenal past
According to the Sun, Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s approach due to his past allegiances with Arsenal.
The Poland international has spent the last six years at Juventus since departing from the Emirates in 2017. Tottenham, on the other hand, are in search of a replacement for their current goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who is expected to leave the club after a poor season.
Fabio Paratici, the sporting director of Tottenham, had inquired about the possibility of signing Szczesny from Juventus. But the goalkeeper is said to be keen on staying at Juventus, where he is under contract until 2024 and could see that deal extended by a further year.
Tottenham has been keen to sign a new goalkeeper as Lloris approaches the latter stages of his career. The France No. 1 is currently sidelined for at least another month with a knee injury, and Fraser Forster is now the main goalkeeper for the club.
Szczesny, who has played over 200 times for Juventus, would have provided the squad with the experience of winning silverware. He has claimed three Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias during his time in Italy.
Despite being linked to Tottenham, Szczesny could eventually be open to a move to the MLS towards the end of his career. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will continue their pursuit of the Juve keeper.
Signing a former Arsenal player is not something that will with the Tottenham fanbase. Especially someone like Szczesny, who has been very vocal about his disdain for Spurs in the past.
As good a goalkeeper as the Polish international is, some things just do not sit right. Signing Szcesny would be one such adventure and let’s hope that we really don’t go down this road.

Yes, we need a top goalie but there are several options out there. It’s time we focus on other more realistic ones and perhaps younger players. Szczesny, at 32, won’t have a lot of gas left in his tank.
