Alasdair Gold reveals what Pedro Porro is doing ‘behind the scenes’ at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur expert and Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Pedro Porro is working very hard behind the scenes to get acclimatised at Spurs.
He said on his YouTube channel:
“He [Pedro Porro] is getting brighter. His first game against Leicester was a shock to the system. He has worked incredibly hard on and off the pitch, behind the scenes, trying to adapt and take on everything. Very popular in the squad already.”
Porro was signed from Sporting CP in January on loan with an obligation to buy him for a fee of £39million in the summer transfer window. Since then, he has not started regularly at all.
This could be because of two things. Firstly, he may not be impressing the bosses in training yet despite working hard.
Porro needs time
Or secondly, which seems more likely, Emerson Royal’s resurgence has kept him on the bench. Djed Spence was loaned out to Stade Rennais in the winter while Matt Doherty was permanently sold to Atletico Madrid.
Hence, the Spain international’s competition has been drastically reduced for now. But he has still started just four out of a possible nine games across competitions.
He has, however, started both of our last two league games. It seems that whatever he is doing on the training ground is working.
Let’s not forget he is still just 23 and has a lot of time ahead in his playing career. Spurs have to be patient with him. He showed a lot of his attacking ability during his time at Sporting CP.

It’s important that he is played in a free attacking role down the right-hand side and if the system is new for him, then he must be given time to adjust to it. Lucky for us, we have an able right-back in Emerson until Porro finds his feet… if he hasn’t already.
