Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro pictured with Sporting CP players ahead of Arsenal tie

Tottenham Hotspur signed Pedro Porro from Sporting CP this January on loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer.

He scored 12 goals and laid out 20 assists in 98 games across competitions for the Portuguese club in the two-and-a-half seasons he spent with them. The former Manchester City player has had a mixed time at his new club.

Emerson Royal has been vying for playing time with him and has been in excellent form since the Portuguese right-back’s arrival in N17. But slowly, Porro seems to be carving out a space for himself down the right flank of our defence.

He has also found time to link up with his old mates ahead of their big game against Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League later today (16 March). The first leg ended 2-2 in Lisbon.

Porro will want a Sporting CP win

They travelled to London earlier this week and are currently in the country’s capital ahead of facing Arsenal. Porro, as seen in the images below, linked with his former teammates and manager Ruben Amorim, who were all evidently happy to see him (h/t Football.London).

Porro’s old team will have the task to beat Arsenal at the Emirates, which as been a fortress for the Gunners this season. There is no doubt who the 23-year-old will be supporting tonight.

Given his allegiance to Spurs and recent history with the Green and White, Porro will definitely want them to beat Arsenal and progress further. Spurs are a major reason why Sporting are in the Europa League, anyway.

They were in our UEFA Champions League group earlier this season, where we qualified alongside Eintracht Frankfurt, with Sporting finishing third and being relegated to the Europa League.

Porro, who dished out his first Spurs assist in our 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest and has started in consecutive PL games, would hope that he can continue this run and become our undisputed starter down that flank in the next few weeks.
