Tottenham and Arsenal suffer blow in their pursuit of Julian Brandt

According to Bild, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a significant blow in their pursuit of Julian Brandt, the attacking midfielder from Borussia Dortmund.

It has been revealed that the 26-year-old German international is set to open talks with his current club about a new and improved contract, quashing any hopes of a potential transfer to either of the North London clubs.

Brandt’s impressive performances this season have certainly caught the attention of many clubs around Europe, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur among the interested parties. The Dortmund star has been instrumental in his side’s title challenge.

However, after sustaining an injury early on in Dortmund’s Champions League fixture against Chelsea, Brandt’s absence proved to be a significant loss for the team. Dortmund ultimately crashed out of the competition, and their winning streak in the Bundesliga also came to an end over the weekend

Despite this setback, it appears that Brandt’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and Dortmund are keen to retain their star midfielder. Reports suggest that Sebastian Kehl is eager to begin contract talks with the player, offering a new and improved deal.

For Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, this news will undoubtedly come as a disappointment. A player of Brandt’s calibre could have provided the attacking spark they desperately need. Brandt’s versatility, speed, and technical ability would have been a valuable addition to either side.

However, it appears that Brandt himself is open to the possibility of staying with his current club. Despite the appeal of a move to the Premier League, the German international seems content to begin contract talks with Dortmund, suggesting that he sees a future with the club.

Tottenham are in desperate need of a midfielder who can be a creative presence in the team and Brandt would have fit the bill perfectly. However, it looks like they are going to miss out on the player.
