Tottenham target Eduardo Mendy told he can leave Chelsea in the summer
According to the Mirror, Tottenham target Eduardo Mendy has been told by Chelsea that he is free to leave the club in the summer after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Mendy’s time at Chelsea has been baffling, to say the least. He was proving to be such a reliable presence in between the sticks under Thomas Tuchel but it all changed when Graham Potter became the manager.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion coach came in at Chelsea and immediately put Kepa between the sticks as his first-choice goalie. To be fair to the Spaniard, he has put in performances that have made him undroppable for Potter.
Mendy on the other hand has had injury issues and struggled to even make the bench at times. Slowly yet surely, it looks like his time at Chelsea is coming to an end and he has been told to search for pastures new.
From the West to the North?
Tottenham could offer Mendy a lifeline and help him to reignite his somewhat stalling career. Spurs need a new shot-stopper and someone who is as reliable as the Chelsea goalie would be a great signing.
Hugo Lloris has been a great servant for the club but his performances have really dropped this season. The club captain needs to be replaced with someone more reliable in between the sticks.
Eduardo Mendy is a player who has experience playing in the Premier League. He can settle in right away at Tottenham. Even location-wise, it is not a huge shift moving from West to North London.
Tottenham also have other options for the goalkeeping role but they must consider Mendy seriously. The fact that Chelsea have agreed to sell the player means he is a realistic target for the club.
