O’Hara claims Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min is “is as good as Marcus Rashford, if not better”
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Son Heung-min is as good as in-form Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford.
The England international is the talk of the town this season given his scoring streak for the Red Devils, especially since the 2022 FIFA World Cup concluded. Rashford has netted 27 goals and provided nine assists in 44 games this season.
He is flying, there’s no denying that. Some would even say he is in the running to be the Premier League Player of the Season.
O’Hara has now issued his opinion on the hype around the 25-year-old. He told GIVEMESPORT:
“I’ve seen Marcus Rashford play like that last season and everyone was saying Marcus Rashford is done, he needs to leave, blah, blah, blah. A proper coach comes in, an exciting coach, coaches him better, gives him belief and confidence. All of a sudden, you see what Marcus Rashford is. Son is as good as Marcus Rashford, if not better.”
The South Korea international has had a poor campaign, netting just six times in 26 games in the Premier League. However, O’Hara believes that this season could be a one-off for the 30-year-old superstar.
“Son’s a world-class player and he needs a manager who’s going to get the best out of him. Look, last season, he [Antonio Conte] did. There was something about the team last season where it had a bit of fight and a bit of passion and a bit of intensity. That’s just gone out of the team. Son, he’s not been great. He’s been poor; he’s been poor, but I think there are reasons behind why he’s been so poor.”
Players can be in good form and can then go a number of games without scoring or assisting. It’s normal. Spurs as a team have been very inconsistent this season and apart from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, they have largely been a disappointment.
Son shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah last season. He is right up there with one of the very best players in the world, which is why he keeps playing under manager Antonio Conte even when he hasn’t been at his best.

Rashford can enjoy his time in the sun. He has had poor seasons as well. Son has scored at least 11 goals in six consecutive league campaigns before this, while Rashford has three double-digit league campaigns for goal during that time.
The former Bayer Leverkusen winger has obviously been more consistent than his Manchester United counterpart. We can count on him to return to his best next season, if not next month.
