Vincent Kompany is the leading contender for the Tottenham Hotspur job
According to the Sun, Vincent Kompany, the Manchester City icon turned manager, has emerged as a shock leading contender to take over as Tottenham’s new boss.
While his current side, Burnley, look to be heading back to the Premier League at the first attempt, Kompany is reportedly interested in taking the reins at Spurs, a club with a rich history and immense potential.
Kompany has garnered much praise for his work in his debut season at Turf Moor, where he has instilled an exciting brand of football that has taken the Championship by storm with the kind of football he has got his team playing.
The Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, has been impressed by the Belgian’s tactics and philosophy and is said to be considering him as a potential candidate to fill the managerial vacancy.
Along with Kompany, other contenders for the position include Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, Marco Silva, and Thomas Frank. It’s a very impressive list that Tottenham are considering.
Despite leading Burnley to a commanding 16-point lead over third place and the possibility of automatic promotion, Kompany knows that he will not be able to spend big to keep the Clarets in the top flight.
The Belgian has already proven his managerial skills by rebuilding the squad last summer after losing top stars like Nick Pope, Ben Mee, James Tarkowski, and Dwight McNeil. The team look completely different now.
At just 36 years old, Kompany is only a year older than Nagelsmann, who was recently axed by Bayern Munich. His time at Anderlecht, where he spent two years as boss, allowed him to hone his skills and develop his own unique style of play.
