Roberto de Zerbi provides fitness update on Brighton duo ahead of Tottenham clash
Speaking in the post-match press conference as quoted by Sussex Live, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi has offered a fitness update on key duo Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur clash.
The duo was forced to withdraw from Brighton’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth in midweek, but De Zerbi has suggested that their injuries are not too serious. They are expected to be available for the clash against the Lilywhites.
Caicedo, the Ecuadorian international, was an instrumental figure in midfield, while Mac Allister has been the star for the Seagulls this season. Both players have been crucial to the Seagulls’ impressive campaign so far and losing them would be a significant blow.
However, the news from De Zerbi is positive, and the duo is likely to be available for the crucial game against Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian manager suggested that both players were withdrawn as a precaution and that he did not want to take any risks.
Brighton have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season, and their performances have caught the eye of many. The Seagulls have been playing some exciting and attacking football, and they have been rewarded with some impressive results.
The win over Bournemouth was another example of their attacking prowess, with Evan Ferguson and Julio Enciso getting the goals. However, the injuries to Caicedo and Mac Allister have given De Zerbi something to think about ahead of the trip to Tottenham, should they fail to recover.
Speaking about the duo, here is what the impressive Italian manager had to say ahead of the Tottenham trip
“It is not a big problem [for Caicedo] and the same for Alexis [Mac Allister]. He had a small problem at the end of the first half and I didn’t want to take any risks as both are very important and I didn’t want to lose them”
The game against Brighton is likely to be a tight and tense affair, with both teams looking to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. Tottenham will need to be at their best to get a positive result.
