Alasdair Gold reveals Tottenham contacts with Roberto de Zerbi
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that the club have contacted Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi but the response hasn’t been great.
Tottenham Hotspur have been in a state of disarray for some time now, both on and off the pitch. With no permanent manager or director of football, the club is struggling to find its footing in a season that was meant to be a return to form.
The recent dismal display at Goodison Park, which saw them throw away a victory to a relegation-battling side, only amplified the issues in north London. The prospect of Champions League football seems to be fading away.
One potential solution that has been floated is a move for Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi. The Seagulls are flying high this season, and De Zerbi has been dubbed the mastermind behind the Premier League club’s unbelievable performance.
However, it seems that De Zerbi may not be interested in the job. According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham have made some initial contact with the Italian manager, but they did not receive the desired response.
De Zerbi is not particularly desperate to leave what is a very stable and exciting project at Brighton for the chaos that is Tottenham Hotspur right now. Here is what Gold had to say.
“From what I understand, the initial contact Spurs have had with De Zerbi’s his camp they are not the most positive indications that he would really be like yeah, alright I’m up for that. That’s not what I’ve kind of heard”
“I don’t get the impression, from everything I’ve heard, that he’s particularly desperate to leave what is a very stable project at Brighton, I guess an exciting one, a very well-structured and planned and thought out project that he has at Brighton for let’s be honest the utter chaos that is Tottenham Hotspur right now.”
It’s not hard to see why De Zerbi would be hesitant to make the move. Brighton are just four points behind Spurs with two games in hand, and they are playing some of the most attractive football in the league.
De Zerbi has built a team that is hard-working, disciplined, and tactically astute. They are a joy to watch, and they are getting results. They still have a chance of getting Champions League football for next season.

Whether De Zerbi is the right man for the job remains to be seen. He certainly has the credentials and the track record to suggest that he could be a success at Tottenham. However, there are other options out there and we must be careful when making our decision.
