Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Pedro Goncalves vs Juventus

According to the Record, Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to watch talented Sporting CP midfielder/winger Pedro Goncalves in action against Juventus last night.

The North London club has been closely watching the Portuguese forward over the past few months and despite the Liga Nos club losing the tie 0-1 to Juventus, Goncalves made a compelling case to the N17 scouts.

Goncalves has been a revelation for Sporting this season, registering an impressive 18 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Tottenham reportedly interested in securing his services for the long term.

The 24-year-old’s style of play would undoubtedly suit the Premier League, where the pace and physicality of the game demand players who are quick on the ball and can find the back of the net. Goncalves has both of those qualities in abundance and has shown he can deliver at the highest level.

Tottenham’s recent form has been patchy, and the club’s hierarchy will be looking to make some shrewd acquisitions in the summer transfer window. Adding a player of Goncalves’ quality to their ranks could be just what they need to push on to the next level.

Son Heung-min has been Tottenham’s main source of goals in recent seasons, but he is now in his 30s, and the club needs to start thinking about a long-term replacement for him. Goncalves could be the perfect fit, and his signing would signal a statement of intent from the club.

If Tottenham manage to sign Goncalves, they will be hoping that former Sporting CP player Pedro Porro who we signed in January can help the young star settle in. After all, adapting to the English Premier League is no piece of cake.

Goncalves’ versatility could also be a huge plus for Tottenham. He has primarily played as a right-winger this season, but he is equally comfortable playing as a central attacking midfielder or as a striker.

However, we must wait to find out if the new manager who comes to Tottenham trusts Goncalves and wants him here. Once we know that for sure, we can make a move for him.
