Ryan Taylor: Xabi Alonso can convince Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Ryan Taylor has claimed that Xabi Alonso is one manager who can convince Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur.

With the recent withdrawal of Julian Nagelsmann from contention for the managerial position, Tottenham finds itself in an active search for a new manager. Several names have been linked to this high-profile job.

Another name that has emerged is that of Xabi Alonso, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid player who currently manages Bayer Leverkusen. Alonso has been receiving praise for his exceptional work at Leverkusen.

Tottenham appear willing to pay Alonso’s release clause to secure his services, as Leverkusen would be hesitant to let him leave otherwise. The cost for Spurs would amount to one year of Alonso’s salary at Leverkusen.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane’s future remains uncertain, with Manchester United often mentioned as the front-runner for his signature. There are other teams around the world who want the Englishman as well.

However, Ryan Taylor believes that the potential appointment of Xabi Alonso could significantly impact Kane’s decision-making process. Taylor points to Alonso’s forward-thinking approach and respected status in the game as appealing factors for the prolific forward.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Taylor expressed his thoughts on the matter and what could make Kane stay here

“It depends really. Obviously, he wants to win trophies, but at the same time, you could also launch a counter-argument for that as he’s had Conte, he’s had José Mourinho, he’s had Mauricio Pochettino and still not won a trophy”

“So it depends on what he wants to do, if he’s happy to stay, I think someone like Xabi Alonso might actually excite him. I think it’s clear Alonso is a forward-thinking manager with fresh ideas, and he’s well respected in the game.”

With Alonso’s impressive player record and reputation in the footballing world, his potential appointment could generate the excitement necessary to convince Kane to remain at Tottenham.

However, the Spaniard lacks much managerial experience. That is not to say that he cannot do a job at Tottenham. Only time will tell if Daniel Levy gives him the opportunity.
