Dean Jones says David Raya and Andre Onana would get split between Tottenham and Chelsea
Speaking to latest episode of Chasing Green Arrows, Dean Jones has claimed that one of David Raya or Andre Onana would go to Tottenham Hotspur and the other to Chelsea.
Tottenham are eyeing the services of either Brentford’s David Raya or Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as they search for a long-term replacement for their veteran goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris next season.
Lloris has endured a challenging season at Spurs, plagued by uncharacteristic errors leading to opposition goals. Furthermore, two injuries suffered during the campaign, including the latest setback against Newcastle United, have effectively curtailed his season.
With just one year left on his contract, speculation is rife that Lloris may depart Tottenham this summer. The club is apparently open to the idea of selling him, actively seeking a suitable successor to fill the void between the posts.
Among the candidates linked with a move to North London are David Raya and Andre Onana. Raya, whose contract with Brentford expires in 2024, has reportedly shown no intentions of extending his stay with the Bees.
On the other hand, Andre Onana has also emerged as a potential target for Spurs. However, their London rivals Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to be in the race to secure the services of the highly-rated goalkeeper.
In a recent episode of the podcast Chasing Green Arrows transfer insider Dean Jones delved into the transfer situation surrounding both Raya and Onana.
“I mean, at the moment the links are Chelsea, Tottenham and Man United. I mean, I was speaking to someone today about this and we were trying to figure out both what we’d heard and where we thought he [Raya] might go. So it’s like, whoever gets Onana, Raya ends up going to the other club.”
While Andre Onana’s potential arrival may generate more headlines due to his high-profile status, it’s important not to overlook the impressive performances of David Raya for Brentford.
