Rudy Galetti says Aston Villa to battle Tottenham for David Raya
According to renowned journalist Rudy Galetti, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on securing the services of David Raya, the talented goalkeeper currently plying his trade at Brentford.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Raya’s impending departure from Brentford has attracted attention from several clubs eager to bolster their squads with his goalkeeping prowess.
The 27-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed a stellar season in the Premier League, standing out as one of the finest shot-stoppers in the competition. In his 38 league appearances, Raya has impressively kept 12 clean sheets and made so many saves.

David Raya‘s contract with Brentford is set to expire in the summer of 2024, but his refusal to sign multiple contract extensions over the past year suggests his desire to seek new challenges elsewhere.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Galetti had to say about future of the Spaniard
“Despite the attempts of Brentford to convince him to stay by renewing his contract, David Raya, in all likelihood, will leave them in June. The English club are already targeting [Mark] Flekken for the next season. Raya is followed by some Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, Chelsea and Aston Villa.”
Given the goalkeeper’s impending departure, both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have expressed keen interest in securing his signature. Aston Villa’s current number one, Emiliano Martínez, has been an integral part of their team, but rumours suggest that he may be on the move this summer.
Should Martínez depart, Villa will be in need of a top-quality replacement, and Raya fits the bill perfectly. Unai Emery, the Villa manager, is keen on retaining Martínez’s services, but should he fail to convince the Argentine to stay, Raya is his preferred choice as a world-class replacement.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur is also on the lookout for a new goalkeeper. After years of loyal service, the club should make the decision to part ways with Hugo Lloris, who has struggled with injuries and experienced a decline in his performances throughout the current season.
