Destiny Udogie expected to be part of Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of next season
Former Udinese star Destiny Udogie is expected to be part of the Tottenham Hotspur squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The North London side signed the Italy U21 international from the Dacia Arena side last summer. Subsequently, the youngster spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the Friulani, where he thrived.
Speaking to Radio CRC via Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Stefano Antonelli, the 20-year-old’s agent, revealed that Spurs have already spoken with him. The full-back’s agent has immense faith in his client’s abilities.
“He’s going to Tottenham who have changed management and have already expressed themselves on Udogie. He would be a player for Naples as he would be for Roma or Inter for example”
Udogie started out at Hellas Verona before making his way to Udinese. At the Dacia Arena side, the left-back further developed and became a key player for them.
Subsequently, Tottenham came knocking for the youngster’s services. Over the last two years, the Italian has caught a lot of people’s attention with some impressive displays.
In the previous campaign, the 20-year-old made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Udin-based club, scoring three goals and providing four assists. But while the defender’s attacking prowess is admirable, he sometimes leaves a lot to be desired at the back.
Last season was one to forget for Spurs. The North London side finished eighth in the Premier League table. Defensively, we were a shambles almost week in, week out. On the left, the likes of Ivan Perisic, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon were often called upon.
However, it looks like the Croatian could part ways with the Lilywhites this summer. Therefore, we could do with more depth on the left-hand side of our defence.
