Graeme Bailey says Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti are split on the pursuit of Tottenham ace Harry Kane
Speculation surrounding Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to swirl, and according to journalist Graeme Bailey, there appears to be a difference of opinion within Real Madrid regarding the pursuit of the England captain.
With Tottenham finishing eighth in the Premier League last season and missing out on European football, the 29-year-old forward might be considering a move to a club that can offer him a better chance of winning silverware.
One of the clubs showing a keen interest in Kane is Bayern Munich. Despite having their initial bid rejected by Spurs, the German side are apparently preparing an improved offer in their pursuit of the striker.
However, it seems they may face competition from Real Madrid, with manager Carlo Ancelotti seemingly eager to secure Kane’s signature. This is despite the fact that there is division over his pursuit at the Spanish club.
In the latest episode of the Talking Transfers podcast, Graeme Bailey shared his insights, stating
“There is a real split in the camp in Madrid, I’m told. There really is between what Florentino Perez wants and what most of the rest of the club wants. The rest of the club want Harry Kane.”
Bailey went on to explain that the Real Madrid hierarchy views Kane as the ideal fit for the team and a potential replacement for Karim Benzema. However, club president Florentino Perez appears to have his sights set on Kylian Mbappe.
While Perez has a successful track record, with his decisions often proving astute, Ancelotti, if this is indeed his last season at Real Madrid, is reportedly pushing for another number nine. The experienced manager sees Kane as the missing piece to achieve a near-perfect team.
For Tottenham supporters, these reports will undoubtedly cause concern. Kane, a product of the club’s youth academy, has been a talismanic figure, consistently delivering goals and performances of the highest quality. Losing him would undoubtedly be a significant blow.
