“A back three”- Journalist Ryan Taylor provides latest scoop on Tottenham defensive restructure

Journalist Ryan Taylor explains Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive situation

Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at Tottenham Hotspur has heralded a summer of transformation for the club, with a wave of new signings already gracing the Lilywhite ranks.

The Australian manager wasted no time in bolstering his squad, securing the services of James Maddison, Manor Solomon, and Guglielmo Vicario, adding a touch of excitement and flair to the team’s attacking options.

In addition to the fresh faces, there have been notable departures from the squad as well. The departure of Harry Winks to Leicester City and Lucas Moura’s exit after the expiration of his contract have marked the end of an era for some long-serving players.

Journalist Ryan Taylor from the esteemed Daily Express has shed light on the situation surrounding Davinson Sanchez, indicating that the Colombian centre-back has been drawing significant interest from other clubs.

With the inevitable outgoings in mind, Ryan Taylor has provided insight into possible defensive reinforcements that could reinforce Tottenham’s backline. Taylor opines that Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba are two promising candidates being closely linked to the club.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said

“If he sticks with a back four, then I don’t think they’ll need more than those two [Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba], but if they’re going to go to a back three at some point then maybe they might want to look again. Obviously, Clement Lenglet left following his loan from Barcelona. Then there is Davinson Sanchez who is attracting very strong interest. Joe Rodon as well is likely to depart”

Tottenham’s pursuit of Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba signifies their ambition to build a robust and cohesive defensive unit, capable of handling the rigours of the Premier League and beyond.

With the summer transfer window still in full swing, the revamp of Tottenham’s squad is far from complete. Ange Postecoglou is meticulously reshaping the team to align with his distinct vision and tactical principles for the upcoming season.
