Harry Kane not travelling to Barcelona but ‘likely’ to stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer

Tottenham Hotspur will be without Harry Kane for the trip to Barcelona on 8 August, but it has nothing to do with his transfer, according to Sky Sports’ chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol on Twitter.

Spurs will be missing a lot of the contingent that played on 6 August against Shakhtar Donetsk at home. We beat the Ukranian outfit 5-1, with the England international finding the back of the net four times.

However, the 30-year-old will not feature for the North London side Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. It is understandable that the club want the important first-team players to be in their best shape ahead of the season opener against Brentford on 13 August.

Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham in the ongoing transfer window. Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring his services, but as per The Athletic, their latest offer has been rebuffed by the Lilywhites.

As things stand, the English skipper is happy under new boss Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager was appointed in the North London side’s dugout recently after he left Celtic.

It is now looking ‘more likely’ now that the gaffer will be going into next season with Spurs’ record goalscorer at his disposal. However, the transfer market is unpredictable and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold.

Kane is a Tottenham academy graduate and has grown into one of the best players in football. For a number of years now, the striker has led the Lilywhites’ attack by example.

In the previous campaign, we heavily relied on the English skipper to find the back of the net. He scored 30 goals in the Premier League in 38 appearances for us.

Hopefully, Kane will end up staying at the North London side this summer. Spurs are arguably a much better team with the English national in the starting lineup and we will evidently have a better chance of succeeding with the striker by our side.
