Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur on Saudi Pro League transfer shortlist
Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min is on the list of the Saudi Pro League as a potential target in the upcoming transfer windows, according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs on Twitter.
The Middle Eastern country has already seen an influx of talent make the switch from European football. In January, it was Cristiano Ronaldo, and this summer, a host of superstars have made their way to Saudi Arabia.
Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane and Neymar are just some of the names who have joined various teams in the Saudi Pro League in recent weeks.
Now, they seemingly have plans to expand further with a long-term strategy. Apart from Son, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski are on the Middle Eastern country’s radar.
With the departure of Harry Kane from Tottenham, the South Korean is now our talisman. The English skipper had formed a brilliant partnership with the former Bayer Leverkusen star at the North London side. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old’s transfer to Bayern Munich has changed our attack’s dynamic.
Spurs signed Son in the summer of 2015. Since then, the 31-year-old has consistently performed for the Lilywhites. Although, he did struggle a bit in the previous campaign.
Now, the South Korean is Tottenham’s captain and will arguably have to shoulder the responsibility of our attack this season. The left-winger is one of the best players at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal at the moment.
However, Son will enter the final 12 months of his contract next summer (transfermarkt). Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see the North London side cash in on the forward in 2024, considering his age.
