Cristian Romero latest: Ange Postecoglou confirms Tottenham Hotspur injury boost for Manchester United tie
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Cristian Romero is fit and ready to face Manchester United in the Premier League encounter on Saturday.
The Argentina international suffered a concussion in the 2-2 draw against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in the PL opener. He suffered a blow to the head in the first half when he scored to make it 1-0.
He immediately came off and his issue seemed serious because it was a head injury. This, of course, raised concerns among fans about Romero’s well-being and when he will be fit to play again.
Our manager has confirmed that he is ready to play against the Red Devils at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Speaking at his latest press conference, he said, via Football.London:
Good news for Spurs
“Cristian is good to go. Obviously he’s been in the hands of the medical team going through all the protocols. He’s ticked all the boxes and felt fine all week. Aside from that, no change from last week.”
Spurs have handled this well. Firstly, they did well to bring off Romero immediately against Brentford and not take any risks despite his importance to the team.
And secondly, from Postecoglou’s aforementioned words, it is clear that the club have done everything by the book to ensure the former Juventus defender is in the correct state to play again.
One can’t deny that Romero, on paper, is our best centre-back. He brings that aggression that is necessary to have in defence and is a warrior at the back.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner will be important in this rebuild under Postecoglou and will be vital in the game against Manchester United. Let us hope the 25-year-old centre-back keeps a clean sheet because that is much needed. He has had just one of those in his last 12 league games for us.
