Sergei Palkin confirms Shakhtar Donetsk are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur about Manor Solomon
Speaking to ESPN, Shakhtar Donetsk chief executive Sergei Palkin has confirmed that the Ukrainian club are in dialogue with Tottenham Hotspur regarding recouping a fee for now Spurs player Manor Solomon.
Solomon’s arrival at Tottenham back in July was met with enthusiasm among fans, as the club capitalised on a FIFA ruling that allowed overseas players in Ukraine to suspend their contracts due to Russia’s invasion of the country.
This shrewd acquisition promised to bolster Spurs’ attacking options, and the prospect of seeing Manor Solomon in Lilywhite thrilled supporters. He has made a good start to life at Tottenham and has impressed on the left wing.

However, Palkin, in a candid interview, has expressed his frustration over Shakhtar not receiving compensation for the player. It is understandable but there is not much anyone can do about a FIFA ruling.
Palkin had initially hoped for an amicable resolution during Shakhtar Donetsk’s friendly match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during pre-season. The clash between the two clubs, though friendly in nature, carried the weight of unresolved financial matters.
Fast forward to the present, and Palkin has confirmed that negotiations are in full swing between Shakhtar and Tottenham. Rebecca Caplehorn, Tottenham’s director of football administration and governance, has been in active dialogue with Palkin.
“We had conversations with Tottenham, with Rebecca. We agreed she will send propositions. We are now in, let’s say, a negotiation process with them. I hope and I believe we will find a solution. At this moment, it is quite early to tell something specific because we are on the way in these negotiations”
Palkin’s intentions are clear; he seeks to recoup the losses Shakhtar incurred due to Solomon’s transfer to Spurs. He believes it’s only fair that Tottenham compensates Shakhtar for the player, given the circumstances surrounding his move.
The anticipation now builds as the negotiations unfold. Palkin remains hopeful and believes that a resolution is on the horizon. His estimation is that within a maximum of two weeks, Shakhtar and Tottenham will reach an agreement that satisfies both parties.

This is an issue that might be settled amicably between the two clubs. Tottenham might not want to pay much for a player they already have but expect them to agree on a compensation fee and get this out of the way.
