Tottenham starlet Destiny Udogie received first Italy national team call-up
At the start of this season, Tottenham looked very well-stocked at right-back but despite the presence of Destiny Udogie, Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies at left-back, none of the names seemed to be convincing.
Little did the club know that Udogie would step up into that role and make that position his own. In fact, he has absolutely bossed his role and held his own even against high-profile attackers like Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka.
Such have been his performances for the club that it was only a matter of time before he was called up to the national team. It is the most logical step going forward and it looks like the call has finally happened.

According to the Straits Times, the Tottenham starlet has been called up by Luciano Spaletti for the first ever time and there is no doubt that he will be extremely thrilled at the prospect of wearing the Italian jersey.
It is a sense of validation for the 20-year-old that his performances are indeed getting recognized. It might only motivate him to perform better and make sure that he can establish himself in the national team setup.
Italy face Malta first in this international break before facing a difficult trip to face England. The Three Lions are not an easy opponent to face and Luciano Spaletti’s side will have to be at their best.
Destiny Udogie, if given a debut, is likely to play in the Malta game. If he can impress and make a claim for a starting berth against the Three Lions, then there will be a real sense of confidence in him going forward.
Udogie has started every single game for Tottenham in the league this season. Postecoglou has placed immense faith in him. If he can keep up the levels going forward, the sky is the limit for him.
