Chris Sutton fears Fulham could be a potential banana peel for Tottenham Hotspur
Premier League leaders Tottenham Hotspur will take on London rivals Fulham when club football returns this weekend after the conclusion of the October international break.
Ange Postecoglou’s men are unbeaten and have shown consistency and bottle this season. However, the hiatus provided by the break could impact our momentum and can be a slippery slope should we fail to turn up.
Several sides have seen their runs or momentum snap thanks to an impasse. The upcoming clash against Fulham provides a stern test for Postecoglou and his men. As long as they turn up, it should be a straightforward win and we cannot afford to let complacency affect us.
Former Premier League winner, Chris Sutton believes Fulham could be a potential slippery slope for Tottenham. His concern is not without basis given that the Cottagers dumped us out of the Carabao Cup earlier this campaign. It remains our lone reversal of what has been an otherwise perfect campaign.
Postecoglou has won both Premier League Manager of the Month awards so far, curiously something Sutton believes will act against Tottenham. Hopefully, it is just a misplaced belief and not a prophecy.
“I should maybe be a bit worried about this game for Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou because he has won two manager of the month awards now, and we all know what usually happens when someone wins one. They lose their next game!”
Writing for BBC, Sutton affirms that much has gone for Tottenham this season as far as results are concerned. The club, usually synonymous with folding under pressure, have risen to the challenge and made their own luck when the chips were down.
However, Sutton still retains the belief that Tottenham will come away with their unbeaten run going against Fulham. Given how close the teams at the top of the table are, every single point can count come to the end of the season. Anything less than a win will see us cede ground at the top of the table.

Postecoglou will face sterner challenges this season and will need his side to keep their cool even when the flow is against them. There is much football to be played and it is in our best interests to take it one game at a time.
