Nottingham Forest keen to pip Tottenham Hotspur to Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu
Tottenham Hotspur have been scouring Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu for a while now and will now face competition from fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest for his signature.
The 24-year-old caught the eye of English fans with his stunning performance at Old Trafford which saw Galatasaray snatch a famous 3-2 win over Manchester United. Akturkoglu scored his side’s second of the night and put in a performance that saw several sides sit up and take notice.
Nottingham have been one such side and were keen on the Turkish ace since last summer. The Tricky Trees made a bid for the 24-year-old but were rebuffed by Galatasaray. They are now expected to reignite the pursuit when the 2024 January transfer window opens.
According to TeamTalk (h/t Nottingham Post), Nottingham have shown every sign to indicate they will challenge Tottenham for the player’s signature. They won’t be alone as other Premier League sides like Aston Villa, West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton are also in the fray.
The Turkish international is primarily a left-winger and is capable of doing a job anywhere along the frontline. This versatility will be a boon for Ange Postecoglou given that he can then deploy Son Heung-min upfront.
Tottenham are yet to replace Harry Kane adequately and signing Akturkoglu will help them play their best attacker in a position where his goal-scoring instincts can be properly utilised. Adding a player of the 24-year-old’s calibre to the roster mid-season could prove to be a defining moment.
Spurs have already made contact with Galatasaray and have even asked for permission to talk to the player. By acting fast, we hope Daniel Levy and Co. will beat the rival sides in the fray to the punch.
Postecoglou is transforming the team’s fortunes on the field and as long as we keep it up, players will be inclined to make the move to the N-17. Hopefully, Akturkoglu will be one of them.
