Jamie Carragher says Tottenham star James Maddison is the ‘most influential’ Premier League player
It is still early days but we can safely say that Tottenham Hotspur have finally found their Christian Eriksen replacement in James Maddison, who according to Jamie Carragher is the ‘most influential player’ in the Premier League.
There is a reason why Maddison was so highly rated during his time at Leicester City. Surprisingly though, the English attacking midfielder never really managed to convince people that he was ready for the big clubs.
There was always a doubt if he could replicate the kind of form at one of the top PL clubs and now that we know, the answer is a resounding yes. It shows how much quality the English playmaker possesses.
James Maddison has literally grabbed the bull by its horns at the N17 in the way he has taken over the mantle as the protagonist of the team, although he is having to feature in a dual role with Son Heung-min.
Not that the 26-year-old is complaining. For all the chances that Maddison creates, it will be of no use if there is no Son kind of presence in the box. The duo together have ensured the club doesn’t feel the absence of Kane.
Speaking about the Tottenham Hotspur number 10, here is what Liverpool legend Carragher had to say as quoted by Sky Sports
“For me, he’s been probably the most influential player in the Premier League. I think he has been that influential”
Big words, Carra! Thank you. Coming from a Liverpool legend, it shows how well Maddison has done and it kind of sends a statement that Tottenham are no longer pretenders but genuine contenders for the titles.
Maddison has indeed been the most influential player in the Premier League though. He will be hoping that it continues for a long time. It needs to if Tottenham are to sustain this dream start to the season.
