Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min discusses pre-match talks before Fulham win
Full-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after our win against Fulham marked the best start by a manager in the Premier League after nine matches by Ange Postecoglou. Goals from Son Heung-min and James Madisson on either side of the halfway mark gave Tottenham their well-deserved 2-0 win over Marco Silva’s men at home on Monday night.
Alongside our North London rivals, Arsenal and Spurs are the only two unbeaten teams in the first division so far.
Following their 2-0 triumph over Fulham, Son spoke to Spurs Play and candidly admitted that Tottenham often faces difficulties after international breaks, a trend that had been a cause for concern but this game, thankfully, ended up with a positive result.
“I just wanted, Monday night, the fans, we just want to make them happy and with a smile on their face after the game, which we did and I think in the first half we probably could have scored three more goals.”
What made Son‘s message all the more poignant was his unwavering commitment to the fans. He understood that Tottenham supporters look to the team for inspiration and moments of joy. Thus, his pre-match message was simple: he wanted to make the fans happy, to see their faces light up with smiles after the game.
The victory against Fulham on Monday was, in many ways, a testament to Son’s leadership and the squad’s dedication. Their resolute performance was evidence that they took his words to heart.
The first half was a display of attacking brilliance, showcasing the full extent of Tottenham’s capabilities. However, the second half presented a challenge, as the team needed to maintain their momentum.
Despite moments of intensity from Fulham, the Spurs squad held their ground and secured a well-deserved victory. The match provided evidence of their resilience and determination, even in the face of potential setbacks. In the end, it was a job well done.
