Journalist says it ‘wouldn’t be a surprise’ if Tottenham try for Antonio Nusa again after failed Brentford transfer

Norwegian journalist de Wahl believes Tottenham might re-try signing Antonio Nusa

Norwegian media outlet Nettavisen’s journalist Stian Andre de Wahl says Tottenham could reiterate their interest in Antonio Nusa, per Football London. The British media outlet had an exclusive interview with Stian Andre de Wahl, who closely followed the Nusa situation.

The Club Brugge player was heavily linked to Tottenham during the January transfer window but Brentford hijacked the deal to sign the Norway international. The 18-year-old preferred signing for the Bees for more game time and first-team preference.

However, Brentford’s medical team found issues with Antonio Nusa’s health clearance. The move broke midway with Antonio Nusa back with the Belgian side. He continues to play in the Jupiler Pro League. Here’s what the Norwegian journo said when asked about the Nusa x Tottenham situation:

“Tottenham is definitely one of the clubs showing interest. It’s difficult to say right now if they will try seriously to get him, but as we can see with Tottenham’s strategy to invest in big young talents it wouldn’t be a surprise if they try.”

Ange’s change of mind?

Ange Postecoglou much wanted Antonio Nusa during January. After being snubbed by the Norwegian prodigy, he turned his attention to another Scandinavian talent, Lucas Bergvall. Bergvall accepted Tottenham’s proposal over Barcelona, something that we don’t see often.

The urgency within the Tottenham camp has alleviated. Unlike in January, Postecoglou has Son, Bissouma and Sarr back in the squad. The injury woes are off as well. The ’emergency’ phase has passed, as mentioned above.

Timo Werner continues to play the wings, even though as a second-fiddle to Heung-min Son who has returned from international duty. Spurs are also eyeing Pedro Neto from Wolves and Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

The duo are proven figures within the Premier League, unlike Antonio Nusa. However, the club will have to splash a considerable amount to get either of these players. In that case, Nusa will certainly be a priority. Only time can unveil what awaits.
