Tottenham monitoring young Brazilian talent who can replace Emerson Royal at N17

Tottenham Hotspur set sights on Brazilian teenage full-back JP Chermont

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to exploit the Brazilian market this summer as the North Londoners have expressed interest in Santos right-back João Pedro Chermont Crema, commonly known as JP Chermont, per Rogério Siqueira.

The Lilywhites are expected to undergo a massive overhaul in the upcoming summer window. Ange Postecoglou has already indicated some ruthless decisions around the corner as Daniel Levy & Co. plan to increase the ceiling of the current roster available at the Australian’s disposal. Due to the busy transfer window, Tottenham has been linked with multiple players from around Europe.

Four straight losses spark talk of major summer overhaul at Tottenham.

However, they are considering dipping into the highly renowned Brazilian market as the club continues to monitor Santos full-back JP Chermont.

The Lilywhites have changed their transfer policy lately as they are keeping a keen eye on signing high-potential young profiles who can be shaped as per Ange Postecoglou’s long-term needs. Daniel Levy & Co. are looking into the South American market for their next prototype as the Spurs intensify their bid to sign JP Chermont.

Transfer tussle on the horizon? Tottenham eye JP Chermont amidst contract talks

Tottenham Hotspur eye rising star JP Chermont.

The 18-year-old has progressed to the ranks of Santos Academy, and owing to his impressive performances in his age group, he was promoted to the first team in March. JP Chermont has already made eight appearances in men’s football, and that seems to be enough to catch Levy’s eye.

There are no reports with details about Tottenham’s interest yet, although they can end up making a move for him sooner rather than later. Current backup right-back Emerson Royal linked with a move away from White Hart Lane means the 18-year-old could become an understudy to Pedro Porro and work his way to becoming the preferred full-back in the long term.

His current contract with Santos runs until 2025, and the Brazilian giants have already initiated discussions for a new deal. However, a North London presence could end up complicating negotiations.
