Championship side close in on summer deal for Tottenham outcast

Millwall close in on permanent deal for Tottenham loanee Japhet Tanganga

After an unsuccessful loan spell during the first half of the season at Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, Tottenham centre-back Japhet Tanganga returned to Hotspur Way and switched to Millwall for the rest of the season.

His performances in the English second tier have impressed the higher-ups at The Den and Millwall have agreed to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent basis. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano. Tanganga has to ensure he remains as fit as possible for longer stretches of time to ensure his career doesn’t spiral down.

The Spurs youth product has unfortunately faced too many injury issues throughout his career. It was only under Jose Mourinho that Tanganga endured a proper phase with minimal injury issues around the first team. Otherwise, it has been on and off for him. Believe it or not, he has missed 66 games due to injury during his time with the Spurs first-team. Total appearances for the club? Only 50.

Ta-Ta Tanganga?

Luckily, his loan spell at Millwall has been far from troublesome for the player. He has played only five minutes less than how many he could since his time at the South-East London club. 18 appearances and two goals.

Moving to Millwall on a permanent basis could surely be the fresh start that the player needs to reignite his career. The regular playing time and stability provided by a permanent move could allow him to fulfil his potential and establish himself as a reliable defender in the English game.

For Tanganga, the challenge now is to maintain his fitness levels and avoid the injury troubles that have plagued him in the past. If he can stay fit and continue to perform at the level he has shown at Millwall, there’s certainly no doubt that he has the talent to succeed at the highest level.

It’s a fresh start for Tanganga, and he’ll surely be eager to make the most of this opportunity to reignite his career and establish himself as a top defender in the Championship and beyond.
