Tottenham defender left out of the Euros squad despite impressive performances this season

Tottenham star Pedro Porro loses Euro spot to veterans

Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro would be hoping to be a part of the upcoming European Championship while jetting off to Australia to feature in a pointless post-season friendly. However, the game in Melbourne will be his final appearance for a while, as Spain manager Luis De La Fuente will jet to Germany without the former Sporting Lisbon star.

The 62-year-old has chosen Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas for the right-back position over Pedro Porro. While Carvajal has been the first choice for his country for some time, the 24-year-old will be disgruntled that a 38-year-old will travel with the Spanish squad ahead of him.

Navas has been an integral part of Sevilla for a while; however, he is entering the twilight of his career, and the majority of the supporters expected the former Alaves manager to opt for a younger option who can be around the Spanish setup for an extended period. Pedro Porro’s impressive performances in the Premier League made him a strong candidate to get the nod.

The former City Group full-back has been impressing in the English top-tier, especially offensively, despite his inverted role under Ange Postecoglou. Many expected him to have a busy summer in pursuit of the EURO 2024 championships, although he will now have a summer off.

Porro will now have the summer to himself to recharge his batteries and be ready to push with the North Londoners next season. This could be a blessing in disguise for Spurs, as a fresh Porro could be an asset in the upcoming campaign.
