Club insider insists Southampton ace would welcome Tottenham Hotspur move

Alcaraz to Spurs? Wenham backs move for Argentine midfielder

John Wenham believes that Tottenham Hotspur should look at Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz as a potential addition to bolster the club’s midfield in the summer. He believes that the 21-year-old’s creativity, vision, and ability would bring a lot to Spurs’ arsenal going into next season.

The North Londoners are in the midst of conversations with Southampton for a possible swap deal, with Joe Rodon going the other way as Carlos Alcaraz makes his way to White Hart Lane (h/t Alan Nixon via his Patreon). However, for any transfer to reach its conclusion, the Lilywhites will have to tag along a fee to land the La Plata-born maestro.

Alcaraz has shown signs of absolute greatness, and he could prove to be a useful option from the bench as the club develops him over the next few years. He has spent time on loan with Italian giants Juventus, and while it did not go to plan, the starlet possesses a high ceiling and still has years to wrap his head around it.

Moreover, the emergence of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero as a successful defensive duo complemented by Radu Dragusin’s arrival means Spurs have a more than capable central defensive unit, and Rodon will find it hard for opportunities to knock on his door at Hotspur Way, and a move away makes sense.

As a result, signing a player of Alcaraz’s quality would be a massive stroke of shrewd business from the officials at Tottenham.

La Plata maestro

John Wenham, owner of reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, said:

“When Southampton were last in the Premier League, I remember thinking what an exciting player Alcaraz was. He can play in multiple positions across the midfield, and at the age of 21, I therefore think he is worth taking a gamble on.”

“I don’t think Southampton are actively trying to get rid of him; I think he’s made it clear he wants to move to a bigger club. As a result, he would surely welcome a move to Tottenham, and I would be very much up for Tottenham signing him.”

We will see how this transfer progresses along the week; however, it has prospects of an attractive piece of business from the club if all the parties involved can reach common ground.
