Walker-Peters eyed as ideal backup for Porro at Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to sign a new right-back to act as a back-up to Pedro Porro as Emerson Royal nears summer exit, and the North Londoners have been looking to sign Hotspur Way academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters.
Spurs former scout Bryan King suggests that Kyle Walker-Peters could be a fantastic backup option for Pedro Porro at White Hart Lane. He suggests that the Southampton ace would be an exceptional squad option for the North Londoners if he returned to the N17 this summer.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“Walker-Peters is a good player. He will certainly have things to offer Tottenham if he returns to the club. However, Southampton has now been promoted to the Premier League.
“What kind of money would he cost? Would he be a backup for Porro? I’d say he probably would be. It is an interesting link; he hasn’t gotten any worse since going to Southampton. He could certainly be a good squad member, that is for sure.”
Alongside Spurs, Brighton are also looking to sign him as he looks to secure a romantic return to the N17.
Can Walker-Peters become number one?
Darren Bent has backed the North Londoners graduate as he suggests that Kyle Walker-Peters has what it takes to become the number-one choice at right back for a Premier League side. Speaking to Football Insider, Bent raved:
“I think he’s done enough to warrant the opportunity to become their regular right-back. Whenever I’ve seen him, he’s always played well. If he’s not playing regularly, we’re never, ever going to see the best of Walker-Peters.
“I think he can shine. In the times I’ve seen him play, I’ve liked his athleticism; I think he’s very good on the ball; he’s quick; he’s not scared of a tackle. He definitely warrants a chance to become their first-choice right-back.”

Kyle Walker-Peters has shown his exquisite abilities on the pitch, and the Saints and Spurs would be looking to have him perform at a similar level if he comes back to the N17. Knowing the club inside out would be a significant advantage for him to settle quickly and contribute effectively to Tottenham’s squad.
