Fabrizio Romano confirms Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Desire Doue
Speaking on his YouTube channel, popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in talented Rennes midfielder Desire Doue.
The 19-year-old French talent has been a name on everyone’s lips in recent weeks with Romano confirming European giants like PSG and Bayern also keeping tabs on the youngster. Spurs don’t want to be left behind.
Described by his France U23 teammates as the ‘best youngster they have seen’, it is clear that everyone in Doue’s circles regard him as a prodigious talent. The teenager has taken significant steps with his performances last season for a club he has been at since he was five years old.
In 43 matches across all competitions last season, Doue scored four goals and provided a further six assists. Capped twice by the France U23 side so far, if he continues on a similar trajectory, it’s only a matter of time before the senior call-up comes.
Predominantly a left-winger, Doue is very versatile. He can play on the right wing, as the central striker, as an attacking midfielder or even deeper as a central midfielder. His ambipedal nature reminds one of Ousmane Dembele.
Doue has a contract that expires in 2026 (Transfermarkt). With less than two years left on his current deal, it makes it much easier for clubs that want to buy him to convince Rennes to sell him this summer.

It won’t be easy to convince Doue especially with PSG showing interest. The French club usually have their way when it comes to targeting French talents and with Kylian Mbappe leaving, a significant hole emerges on the left wing.
